Wherever possible, I like to write about the seasons I’m in. Or rather, integrate what’s around me into the screenplay or novel.
So if it’s Spring – lilac blossom on the trees, a sense of new life.
Summer – a heatwave, sizzling romance, fun holiday-type ingredients (eg: circus).
Autumn – relationship break-ups, melancholia, intrigue (November is noted for the latter, with the Gunpowder Plot, Kennedy Assassination & deposing of Margaret Thatcher).
And if it’s Winter, plenty of snow or a Christmas backdrop.
I feel reflecting the seasons around me – or choosing to work on projects that lend themselves to a particular time of year – helps plug me into the work.
